February 12, 2008
The
Professional Edition is the main edition from the Total Recorder product family.
This edition provides many powerful functions for the recording, converting,
editing, and processing of sound. With the new Video Add-on, you can record from
any combination of video and audio sources.
To compare different editions of Total Recorder, proceed to the Feature
Comparison page.
You can download a no-cost evaluation version of Total Recorder Professional
Edition. The evaluation copy is a fully functional version of the program, with
the exception that an audible noise will be inserted about every 60 seconds
throughout each recording you make. For unlimited recording without the
insertion of an audible noise, you must purchase a Total Recorder license.
Free and fast technical support is provided even with the no-cost evaluation
version of our products.
Total Recorder Professional Edition Version 6.1 is available free of charge, to
purchasers of previous versions of the Professional Edition. Existing customers
may download and install the new version, however you will need a V6.0
registration key (the key must begin with TRP6). Your previous registration key
will not work with V6.0 and above. Free and fast technical support even with the
Free Edition of our products
Users may obtain a V6.0 registration key by using the self-service registration
key management system. This system uses the E-mail address under which you
originally purchased the product. If this E-mail address is no longer valid,
then users requiring a new key should E-mail High Criteria at support@highcriteria.com.
Specify the registration name and E-mail address you used when you first
registered and your new E-mail address.
For a limited time only, licensed users of Total Recorder Standard Edition can
upgrade to the Professional Edition for an upgrade fee of $18.00 US. Registered
users of the Standard Edition should use this link to purchase the Professional
Edition, at the upgrade price.
When you upgrade, the installation of the Professional Edition will remove the
Standard Edition from your PC. If you evaluate the Professional Edition and
decide not to purchase it, you must re-install the Standard Edition and specify
your Standard Edition registration key. Your registration key for the Standard
Edition cannot be used for the Professional Edition.
Total Recorder Professional Edition requires: an IBM compatible PC, a sound
card, and Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, or higher.
With Total Recorder Professional Edition, you can do the following:
Record local audio files or Internet broadcasts reproduced by other programs,
such as RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, WinAmp,
and many others. These recordings are performed without the need for special
lines for your sound board and without a loss of quality due to redundant
conversions from digital to analog to digital. Many additional options are
available. For example, you can use accelerated recording to increase the
recording speed or you can choose to suppress Internet transmission gaps. For
more information, see the Recording an Internet Broadcast Tutorial.
Record both parties of Internet-telephony conversations when using programs like
Skype, Google Talk, etc.
Record any sound passing through any line of your sound card. For example, you
can record sound being played back by an external program, or sound from a
microphone, an external LP, cassette, CD/DVD player, AM/FM/Satellite radio, etc.
For more information, see the Recording from an External Device tutorial .
Record, edit and play video in AVI format with Video Add-on Video can be
recorded from a hardware device plugged into your computer, such as a camera, or
captured video from your screen. The program can also be scheduled to record
video from your favourite video services and websites. Click here to learn about
this functionality.
Use the Recording Wizard to help you customize Total Recorder settings based on
the sound you are going to record.
Record directly in any supported sound format. PCM, MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC
and any format provided by a system codec are supported. Professional Edition
also provides support for a number of high-quality stereo formats (PCM - up to
192kHz 24bit and float, FLAC - up to 192kHz 24bit, WMA Lossless - up to 96kHz
24bit, and formats provided by the Windows Media Audio Professional codec). For
more information, see the Selecting an Optimal Recording Format Tutorial.
Convert files between any of the supported sound formats. For more information,
see the Sound Format Conversion Tutorial.
Create and edit file tags. You can create and edit ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags for MP3
files and tags for WMA, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC files.
Edit sound files using a built-in sound editor. This built-in sound editor
allows you to cut, trim, and join your recordings. Editing can be performed
using a visual representation of the sound or using clipboard operations. All
editing functions are performed without decompressing/recompressing to preserve
sound quality and save time.
Normalize recordings to adjust the level of sound. Such processing for MP3 files
is performed without re-encoding or loss of quality.
Apply fading effects. Applying fading effects to MP3 files is performed without
re-encoding or loss of quality.
Schedule playbacks or recordings using Total Recorder's powerful built-in
scheduler. For example, you can schedule a recording and use a stop condition
such as an absolute time, a duration, the absence of a sound signal, and so on.
The scheduler includes many other options. For more information, see Using the
Scheduler Tutorial.
Use a command line interface to start playback or recording and specify
associated parameters.
Perform general operations on playlists, such as add files to a playlist, delete
files, save a playlist, etc., such as merge multiple files in a playlist.
Split recordings on separate clips. You can indicate that the sound being
recorded will be split on separate clips during the recording. File tags can be
created automatically.
Split recordings on separate files. You can indicate that the sound being
recorded will be split into separate files during recording based on different
conditions (size, duration, low sound level, etc.). Splitting an existing
recording can also be done. For more information, see the Splitting and Tagging
Files Tutorial.
Use the pause reduction feature. You can choose to remove pauses during a
recording or remove pauses in an existing file.
Customize the Total Recorder interface. You can choose to show or hide some
parts of Total Recorder's main window and select different modes. All main
functions can be performed with simple mouse clicks or hot-key combinations.
Regulate the playing volume and recording levels directly from the Total
Recorder interface.
Customize shortcuts. You can assign a shortcut key to any function provided by
Total Recorder. Special keys for multimedia keyboards are also supported.
Customize global hot keys. You can assign a global hot key to any function
provided by Total Recorder. Special keys for multimedia keyboards are also
supported.
Change the look and feel of Total Recorder's main window using a skin. For more
information on skins, refer to the Skins page.
Perform batch processing. You can use batch processing to convert, normalize,
split, rename, tag, apply add-ons, or perform other operations on multiple
files. For more information, see the Batch Processing Tutorial.
Execute a command line after a file has been recorded or after a recording
session has completed. This feature is available when recording in split mode
and for a scheduling recording.
Put your computer in standby or hibernate mode when an automatic job completes.
Save a stereo file as a mono file with channel mixing. This can be used, for
example, to save the left and right channels of a stereo file to separate mono
files.
Merge multiple files into a single file. A period of silence can be inserted
between the files or a fading effect can be applied to the files during a merge.
Use add-ons. Total Recorder supports add-ons that can be used for video
recording, sound enhancements, mixing operations, integration with iTunes/iPod,
and for other purposes. Refer to the Add-ons page for information on the add-ons
available.
